The Finished Product
Over the course of the semester, we covered three types of digital media that we had to then, in turn, create ourselves.
We started with editing Wikipedia and learning more about navigating that landscape from the backend.
Afterwards, we moved into Blogging where we created our own blogs and had to ensure that we were marketing ourselves correctly/in line with our content stratgey.
To wrap up the semester, we made podcasts on a topic of our choosing and incorporated different types of sonic strategies to ensure that we were still maintaining/attracting an audience.
Editing Wikipedia
I edited four articles, but the edits for only three stuck. Here, you can read about Ethel Cain (the eidts were reversed), Groudhogs, Cannibis and Sex, and The History of McDonalds. For these, I focused on copyediting, formatting/creating lead sections, and ensuring the language maintained Wikipedia's neutral point of view.
Blogging
In this assignment, I created a blog what was supposed to be like Reddit solely for disabled people. I had articles I published as the back bone/a refernce guide as to what is to be tolerated on the site in addition to forums where newly diagnosed 18-24 year olds, preferrably in the Indianapolis community could share resources that aided them when embracing being part of the disabled community. Podcasting
My podcast was my favortie thing to create for this class. I tried to make it more gameshow-esque and brought in a guest to answer true or false questions about Riverdale, a CW show that first started airing in 2017. I made this for fellow poor quality TV show lovers such as myself. Click the image below to listen to the podcast.
